Dennis Getz

District #1

Dennis Getz of Findlay.

Mr. Getz is a grain and livestock farmer.

Dennis and his wife, Ivakay, have been members of Coles-Moultrie Electric Cooperative for 22 years. They have one son, Lowell.

Mr. Getz and his wife are both 4-H club leaders. Prior to being elected to the board, he has served as an election inspector for Coles-Moultrie Electric Cooperative and is curretnly serving as secretary. Mr. Getz is a Credentialed Cooperative Director.


John Bowers, District 2

District #2

John Bowers of Lovington.

John Bowers is a retired Engineer/Manager from Honeywell Federal Manufacturing and Technologies (FM&T) in Kansas City, Mo.  The FM&T facility is managed and operated for the Department of Energy as a supplier of non-nuclear components for the Nuclear Weapons Complex.  Mr. Bowers worked at the FM&T facility for almost 34 years as an employee of Management and Operation contractors Bendix Corporation then AlliedSignal Corporation and finally Honeywell Corporation.  He worked in various engineering and management positions including Telemetry Engineering, Facilities/Utilities Engineering and also Program Management.  His work included two separate one-year assignments at Sandia Laboratories Livermore and Sandia Laboratories Albuquerque respectively.  He also served several years as a member of the Children’s Mercy Hospital Oncology Center board of directors as part of a Honeywell community service program.

Mr. Bowers served 27 years combined service in the US Air Force and Air Force Reserve and retired from the reserve in 1995 at the rank of Lt. Colonel.  He served as a Civil Engineering Officer, a Communications and Electronics Officer, Communications Squadron Commander, and as an Intelligence Analyst. 

Mr. Bowers earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Terre Haute, IN and a Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Missouri Columbia, MO.

John and his wife, Linda, raised four boys and were active in Cub Scouting and Boy scouting in the Kansas City area.  Other activities included coaching youth soccer in the area.  John and Linda moved to the Lovington, IL area after retirement in 2002.  His hobbies include woodworking, restoring old military radios and amateur radio.

Mr. Bowers grew up in Lovington and attended/graduated from Lovington High School.


David Finely,  District 3

District #3

David Finley of Gays, is self-employed in grain production on the family certified “Century” farm.

Mr. Finley and his wife, Rebecca, have two children and two grandchildren.

He has been a member of Coles-Moultrie for almost 35 years.

Mr. Finley has served as an incorporator and board member of the Coles County Community Development Corporation. He has also served as a director on the Coles Together board of directors and was a member of the finance committee.

In the past, he was awarded the “Coach of the Year” by the Mattoon Babe Ruth baseball league. He is currently a member and Trustee of the Smyser Christian Church and sings in a southern gospel group known as H.I.S.

Mr. Finley graduated summa cum laude with an A.A.S. degree in management and emphasis in accounting from Lake Land College, Mattoon, Illinois. He has also attended Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois.

In March 1990, he was elected to the Coles-Moultrie Electric board of directors and served for nearly 4 years. During that time, he held the office of Vice-President and President.

Mr. Finley was employed as Coles-Moultrie’s General Manager and Executive Vice-President from February 1994 until July 1997. During his employment, he served on the board of directors of Soyland Power Cooperative. He was also elected to serve on the Illinois Electric Council. Mr. Finley has earned a Board Leadership Certificate.


Debbie Albin District 4

District #4

Debbie Albin of Mattoon.

Debbie Albin and her husband, Mike, live in Buck Grove Subdivision 5 miles south of Mattoon.  She has 2 sons, Chris (Mt. Vernon, IL) and Dustin (student at SIU-C)

She is currently employed with Safety Compliance Training Services in Mattoon as Training Manager.

She has a Master of Science in Education degree (emphasis on Training) from SIU-Carbondale, Certificate in Human Resources and Certificate in Management both from Parkland Business Development Center and the American Management Association.

She currently is the International Service Director for Mattoon Rotary Club, Treasurer of Charleston Business & Professional Women, an Ambassador for Mattoon Chamber of Commerce, 2008 Drive Chair for United Way of Coles County, and a volunteer instructor at Riddle School (Mattoon) for Junior Achievement for the past two years.  Previously she has been the retail, utility, and industrial chair for the United Way of Coles County and director for Illinois Business & Professional Women.  She has served as an “adoptive family” for international students at Lakeland College, hosted international professionals visiting the U.S., delivered peace meals, rang bells for the Salvation Army, collected food for the needy, collected money for the Heart Walk and Cancer Walk, and many other activities.  She is a graduate of Coles County Leadership sponsored by the Charleston and Mattoon Chambers and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mattoon.

Debbie was employed as Compliance & Loss Control Specialist at Coles-Moultrie Electric Cooperative for 3+ years.  She recently completed Loss Control Internship through the NRECA (National Rural Electric Cooperative Association) and NUTSEA (National Utility Training and Safety Education Association) and is now a Certified Loss Control Specialist.  She is one of only 8 in Illinois with this designation.  She has also completed various leadership workshops through the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives.

She was employed for 27 years with Illinois Power Co., an investor-owned electric and gas utility.  While at IP, she worked in customer relations, emergency service, engineering, credit, customer service, and operations.


Steve Shrader, District 5

District #5

Steve Shrader of Oakland.

Steve Shrader is a livestock and grain farmer in eastern Coles County, Hutton Township.  He has been a member of Coles-Moultrie Electric for 38 years.

He graduated from Charleston High School in 1965 and went on to DeVry Technical Institute and earned an Associate degree in Electronics.  He also attended Eastern Illinois University and Lakeland College to improve his business skills.

He served as a Coles County Farm Bureau Director for 18 years from 1974-1992.  He recently volunteered to again serve on the board for Coles County Farm Bureau in Hutton Township.

He is a member and Deacon for Charleston Providence Separate Baptist Church where he has attended all his life.  He was a volunteer 5th and 6th grade basketball coach for his son’s team the two years his son was at Jefferson Elementary School.  He has been married for 40 years to his wife, Nita.  They have 2 children and 4 grandchildren.  He helps the grandchildren with 4-H cattle and is teaching his grandson about farming.


Scott Uphoff, District 6

District #6

Scott Uphoff of Mattoon.

Mr. Uphoff is a farmer.

Scott and his wife, Janet, have three daughters: Allyson, Sara and Susann.

Mr. Uphoff received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Eastern Illinois University in 1983.

He presently serves as a commissioner on the Coles County Regional Planning and Development Board and has been President of St. John's Lutheran Church in Mattoon.
He previously was a member of the Sedgwick County Council on Aging in Kansas and a member of the Kiwanis of Northeast Wichita (Kansas). He is the Vice-President and Head of Finance of the St. John's Lutheran's Church in Mattoon.

Mr. Uphoff has served as a director for Coles-Moultrie Electric since July 2000. While serving as a board member, he has been a member of the Marketing Committee, Audit and Finance Committee, and Policy Committee. He has attended the NRECA Directors and Managers summer school and the NRECA Competitive Business Strategies Summit. Mr. Uphoff is a Credentialed Cooperative Director and has earned a Board Leadership Certificate.


Jeff Hudson, District 7

District #7

Jeff Hudson of Charleston.

He is a Vice-President with the Union Planters Bank in Casey.

He is an accredited farm manager and an accredited rural appraiser. He is a real estate broker in three states and has a Series 6 securities license.

Jeff and his wife, Sarah, have one son, Nick.

He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics.

In 1996, Mr. Hudson was elected to the Coles-Moultrie Electric Board. When he moved to a different board district, he resigned his seat as per the Cooperative by-laws. While serving on the Board, he was Secretary and Assistant Treasurer.

He is a member of the Charleston Rotary Club, Charleston Chamber of Commerce, and Farm Bureau, and currently serving as Treasurer of the cooperative.
